Life in rural areas
Far away from hustle and bustle, there are places where
people still prefer living in the simplest way that disconnects them from all
the distractions of the urban areas. The greenery of the rural suburbs is the
ultimate beauty of the villages which sets them apart from other inhabitable
places.
Not only are the rural neighbourhoods quieter and more
picturesque, but they also provide a better and improved quality of life. It
has also been found that being more connected to the countryside can have a
very positive impact on wellbeing, helping to improve the quality of life as
the residents have nature and wildlife all around them. Wildlife is more
frequently found in rural areas than in cities because of the absence of people
and buildings.
The view of the herd of cattles grazing over the fields,
the fishes swimming in the distinct ponds having lotuses protruding from the
surface of the water bodies, fields full of sunflowers is such a soothe to the
eyes. As you proceed further into the village, you will witness
women in traditional attire drawing water from the wells
while gossiping about their whereabouts and daily chores and the sight of the
village kids running around while playing will surely remind you of your carefree
childhood days.
People who live in the village areas are very hospitable
and always try to protect their traditional habits thus they prefer living or
working on farms or ranches, hamlets and other small settlements that are
situated in or surround the rural areas.
This makes them ideal for older
residents, parents raising young families, or simply those who want to live a
more secure and health-conscious life, away from the endless loop of city life
chores. Apart from having such an excellent hospitable environment, they are
also known for being safer, with less crime, pollution, litter and traffic. In
fact, a new study shows that health outcomes are more favourable in rural areas
than in urban areas.
Despite having so many positive attributes, on the
negative side, rural areas are often poor and lack the services, employment
opportunities, and leisure activities that cities have. Rural poverty is
thought to be more persistent than urban poverty as the factors that contribute
to its high rate. Some of the major factors being illiteracy, unemployment,
homelessness, crime, social evils, lower living standards, lack of facilities,
services, and poor health. Compounding the general problem of poverty, there is
always a dearth of health care professionals, hospitals, biotech companies and
medical clinics which needs to be addressed.
With the soothing natural landscapes all around, a mere
glance out of the window and onto the open fields of wheat, which looks as if
the earth is covered in gold when the sun sets, or the nurseries
providing a wide range of natural plants and other green spaces can help lower stress levels. The fresh air, the wind breeze, that so refreshing, altogether puts the mind at ease.
